This is for Big Rammy

THIS BLOG IS FOR OUR SON, ANTHONY.

On 15th April 2007 he was involved in a road traffic accident that left him permanently brain damaged.  Despite all the odds, he survived and is currently undergoing rehabilitation in an ABI Unit in North Wales.  This is Big Rammy's site and I have loaded it with a few of his favourite things in the hope that one day he will be able to interact with this, his own blog.

This is the ultimate target and one day he will achieve it.  But for now, especially for his friends and family, I will publish photographs and stories of the life he once had with you all, and hopefully, when the time is right, I will also publish photographs and tell stories of what happens when you are all out and about with 'Big Rammy' again.

LOVE OF A MAN

When Anthony was seriously ill, having just come out of a seven month long coma, I made this video.  The song illustrates perfectly the love that one man can have for another.  I stuck this song on my mobile phone and played it for Big Rammy over and over again, during seemingly endless days of visiting him in Leigh's Taylor Neuro Rehabilitation Unit in an effort to bring him out of that damned coma.

HE'S MY SON

In April of this year (2008) Big Rammy was transferred to an Acquired Brain Injury Unit in Colwyn Bay in a last ditch effort to try and get him some kind of life, after everybody else had given up on him.  The original idea (for the authorities) was to just stick him in a home and forget him.  There was no way that myself and his wonderful mother were going to put up with that and we made damn sure that everybody in any kind of position of power knew it.  They were not going to get away with just dumping Big Rammy out of sight and out of mind.  He is currently undergoing, and responding to, intensive neuro physiotherapy, a chance that was so nearly denied him.  This video was made when I was at a terribly low ebb, fearing the very worst, before Anthony's move to Wales.

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

If it was even remotely possible that a mother's love could bring back her son, Big Rammy would now be back home.  Whenever I see Sheila (his mother) playing this song into Anthony's ear it cracks me up.  She sings along, absolutely refusing to let anybody take her sunshine away.  And do you know what?

Nobody ever will.

SO NOW IT'S OVER TO EVERYBODY ELSE WHO KNOWS ANTHONY.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS AND MEMORIES ON THIS BLOG BECAUSE ONE DAY HE IS GOING TO READ THEM (AND MORE THAN LIKELY DELETE THEM - ESPECIALLY OUR VIDEOS!).

THIS IS A PLACE WHERE WE CAN ALL LET BIG RAMMY KNOW THAT HE'S IN OUR THOUGHTS AND THAT ONE DAY HE WILL BE BACK WITH ALL OF US.  THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND CARE FOR HIM.
